FIFTY competitors have taken part in the first ever 'aquathlon' to take place at Barry Island's Whitmore bay last week, incorporating a sea swim around the bay followed by a flat and fast run around the iconic headlands of Barry Island.
The race, entitled the WBay Aquathlon, was held on Sunday, September 24 and was split into two separate events. The 'Splash and Dash Maxi', involved a 1km swim and a 6km run, while the 'Splash and Dash Mini' was a 500m swim followed by 3km on foot.
