TUESDAY night saw The Wanderers travel to the King William IV pub in Cadoxton for their first round catch up match.

Frame one would see Wanderers' captain Jeff Bartle break off and clear up all in one visit, a brilliant winning start giving Jeff his first Break and Dish Trophy.

The remaining three singles were all close games which could have gone either way, so 2-2 was probably a fair outcome, but Wanderers struggled after that with Karl Marsh winning their only other frame.

A few further frames should have gone The Wanderers way, but poor shot selection and silly mistakes cost them.

King William's Lee Philips received another man of the match accolade, winning four out of four games with fine support from team mates Geoff Froud, Les Hunt and Neil Tipples giving the King William a fine 9-3 victory.

Thursday night would see title favourites the Witchill Wildcats deservedly beaten at the Castle Hotel.

An unexpected result saw the Castle Dark Lords win 7-5, with Wayne Hobson beating both singles champion Ceri Morris and singles finalist James Hill in the singles.

Matthew Tobin had a memorable night, winning four out of four games and playing some very good long shots.

The one highlight for the wildcats was Ceri Morris winning a Dish and Break trophy in frame eleven, his first of the season, but the night belonged to Sean Kelly, the Dark Lords commander.

The Libs Rejects started slowly and were 3-1 down after the first set of singles, however a rousing team talk by captain Alex Campbell saw The Libs storm back. They took the next eight frames, to the astonishment of Millwood Pot Jacks, securing a 9-3 win. Man of the match Mike Williams won all four of his matches.

Thursday also saw the Glenbrook play their second game in three days as the Wanderers hosted the Island's Finnegans.

First up was Nick "Hurricane" Taylor, who seemed intent on making his game last all night, before finally winning with a skill shot on the black.

Wanderers took all four singles, eventually going on to emerge 9-3 winners despite a number of tight games and Harry Asprou and Carson Martin shining for Finnegan's.

The King William IV pub would host the Cadoxton derby with last year's champions Billy United taking an early 4-1 lead against their pub rivals.

United would lose the next four frames with Geoff Froud and Dave Miller both playing exceptionally well, only for Billy United to keep cool heads and win the last two doubles matches in a deserved 7-5 win.

League leaders the Good, the Bad and the Ship earned a convincing 9-3 win against the Borough.

A scrappy match played at The Ship saw Adrian Leadbetter earn man of the match after winning four out of four, while captain Graham Avaient lost a singles match for only the second time this season to Calum Perry.

This Sunday sees the county team travel to Haverfordwest in the cup against Pembroke Black Widows. A win for the Vale's Islanders would see them play in the prestigious Porthcawl finals weekend. The league would like to wish the best of luck to captain James Hill and his team.
