FUNDRAISERS from MOD St Athan are set to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon this weekend, in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Thirty MOD St Athan personnel will be joining 15 others from the University of Wales Air Squadron on Sunday, October 1, with each runner tasked with raising money for the RAF’s leading welfare charity.

Flight Sergeant Dean Morgan, of MOD St Athan, said: "We’ve got individuals of all ranks and ages running for the RAF Benevolent Fund, hoping to raise as much as possible. A team of us entered the event last year, and this year we’ve been training for three months to beat our own times – with varying intensity and success!

"The RAF Benevolent Fund is the chosen charity for us here at MOD St Athan – we fully understand the scope of work that they undertake and being in the RAF, what better charity to run for! They really do embark on great work for the entire RAF community."

Paul Hewson, Regional Director for the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: "To have the support of 45 RAF personnel for one event is nothing short of inspiring. To all of those taking part – thank you very much for everything you are doing for us. Your efforts mean we can assist many more deserving individuals of the RAF family, whether that’s through financial support, advice or advocacy, to help change their lives for the better."
