CADOXTON Barry FC begin their season next Saturday, August 12, with an FAW Trophy tie against near neighbours Clwb Cymric, in a 2.30pm kick-off at their Cwrt-y-Ala home ground in Ely.

Cadoxton will certainly not be going into the game unprepared, having already played six warm up matches under the eye of new manager, Matthew Davey. Pre-season ended with a record of four victories, one draw and one defeat, with two of the wins and a draw coming against sides from higher divisions.

Cadoxton's last encounter with Cymric came towards the end of last season, in which they suffered a late defeat.

Having trailed by a single goal for much of the game, Cadoxton Barry equalised with two minutes remaining, only to concede themselves almost immediately and surrender all three points.

A tight encounter is expected, with Cadoxton hoping that their hard pre-season work will pay off when it matters.

That game is then followed on Tuesday evening with Cadoxton Barry’s first Highadmit Alliance League Division One game of the season, in which Coagan Coronation will be the visitors to Bryn-y-Don.

And there’s also a new management team in charge of the Cadoxton Barry second team.

Craig Fenn and Richie Rogers have taken over the side, who recently played their first warm up game at St Athan against a notionally St Athan 2nd team.

Despite the home side fielding five of their first team squad, Cadoxton Barry, helped by an Ingham hat-trick, ended the game pressing for a late winner with the scores tied at three a piece and giving promising signs for their coming season in the Vale of Glamorgan League.

Any clubs looking play a pre-season friendly against Cadoxton Barry’s 2nds are invited to contact Richie Rogers on 07846 824300, or Craig Fenn on 07714 640973.
