The Brynhill Ladies' Open took place on Friday, July 21, with an excellent turnout in spite of the poor weather conditions on the day.

With the tournament reduced to nine holes due to the weather, the winners were Pat John, Dee Watkins and Karen Jones of the Vale Golf Club, who scored 40 points to claim the title.

Shirley Lewis, Helen Loo and Sally Bryant of Southerndown Golf Club finished runners-up on 38 points, while a point behind them were Gemma Evans, Shirley O'Donovan and Lisa Taylor from Brynhill Golf Club, who finished third.

Gemma Evans took the prize for getting nearest to the pin, while the longest drive winner was Shirley Lewis.

All winners were presented with gift vouchers for their success.

The event also hosted a raffle, a golf clothing sale and a jewellery stall, and a representative from the Alzheimer's Association - ladies' captain Olwen Thomas' chosen charity - was also present to give a talk to those present about the organisation.

Captain Olwen Thomas thanked everyone attending for their support, as well as the bar and catering teams and the greens staff.
