Barry Athletic Cricket Club First XI made journey to Rogerstone last Saturday, July 29, where they were beaten by six wickets.

Batting first, the visitors were bowled out cheaply for just 112, with Pravin top scoring with 21. Other contributions down the order included Billy Usswald's 18 not-out, Steve Provis with 17 and M Anwar's 13 - the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

Rogerstone bowlers Berry and Akbar took Athletic apart, managing figures of 4-23 and 3-8 respectively.

In reply, Rogerstone reached their target for the loss of four wickets, with Holaway managing 45 not-out for the hosts.

M Anwar fared well with the ball, taking 3-33, but it was not enough to threaten a convincing Rogerstone win.

Barry Athletic's Second XI entertained Rogerstone Seconds and were asked to bat first on a humid and sticky afternoon on the Island.

The Seconds too fared poorly with the bat, being bowled out for 73, but there were reasons for optimism thanks to Steve Oram's 33 and a mature and composed 10 not-out from young Wesley Baker.

Rogerstone reached their total from 12.4 overs for the loss of no wickets, Webb top scoring with 53 not-out.

This weekend Barry Athletic First XI travel to Cardiff Gymkhana, while the Second XI entertain the same opposition on the Island.

Both games are set to begin at 12.30pm.
