Sully View RFC 54

Cardiff Internationals Athletic Club 0

IT IS good to see that the CIACs are at last managing to field a team each week, albeit a somewhat understrength XV, and without a recognised front row, the game was played with passive scrums, negating one of Sully’s stronger areas.

Still the visitors put up a gusty display, but could not match the View’s all-round skills, and conceded four tries in each half.

Sully led at the break 26 – 0, and eased passed the 50 point mark, with tries coming at regular intervals from both the forwards and the backs, with Adam Wheeler scoring three, Rhys Manford two, and one each for Macaulay Robinson, Jon Thomas, and Ellis Smith, with Chris Cummings adding seven conversions.

The result takes Sully View into second place in the league, although Hirwaun are only three points adrift and have a game in hand.

The 6 Nations, now in full flow, has an adverse effect on grassroots rugby, and the next fixture is not for another four weeks, on March 4, so players are urged to keep attending training so that they will not lose too much of an edge.

Good news is that flanker Peter Brown has had an operation on his snapped ankle (sustained the previous week at Hirwaun), is out of hospital, and was a welcome spectator at the CIACs game.
