THE star game in the Vale of Glamorgan Pool League was Borough Arms taking on Tadcross Hotel.

After previous defeats for both teams, both were desperate for a win. Les Ashton of the Borough started the rout winning the first frame of the evening.

Borough were now on a roll, winning frame after frame with major contributions from Andrew Churchill, Nicholas Meadows and Robert Larkin who came close to an eight ball clearance from the break.

The scoreline did not do justice to some of the play by Tadcross, it was a disappointing night for Leah and her players.

There was a small consolation for Leah who was voted best player by the Borough Arms players, who were over the moon with their 10 - 0 win.

Billy United were too strong for Cocopops with a comfortable 7 - 3 win for the travellers.

Single wins for Martin Pring, Gary Roberts, Ross Jones, Dan Roderick, John Farrugia and Tony Mullins gave the Billy a 6 - 2 advantage. With the points in the doubles being shared, resulting in a 7 - 3 win for Billy United.

Over the Island at Finnegans another impressive win for the Witchill Hotel, who now head the league.

The 9 - 1 scoreline was deceiving as most games could have gone either way.

The truly remarkable Chris Bardsley won all three of his games and in game five his opponent, the recently signed Les Mason, could only watch in awe as Chris Bardsley broke off left handed then preceded to clear all his balls playing right handed, all in one visit, and earns himself an eight ball trophy to add to his burgeoning trophy cabinet.

Special mention for birthday girl Sian Kedward who won comfortably and Ian Hill who again won all his games. His record so far in the league is played nine won nine.

Vale of Glamorgan Pool League are still looking for new players of all capabilities to join, compete and have fun on a Thursday night.
