Vale of Glamorgan Under-15s 26 v Llanelli Schools 0

THE Vale of Glamorgan Under-15s squad opened their Dewar Shield Campaign with a hard fought 26 – 0 win over Llanelli Schools.

Playing under floodlights on Canton RFC’s new 4g pitch, the opening exchanges were fairly even, before Ioan Copper opened the scoring with a try in the corner, converting his own try for a 7 – 0 lead.

Undaunted Llanelli fought back with a series of driving mauls from the line out before releasing their back line, the Vale defence held firm and the Vale extended their lead with another try from Evan Lloyd again converted by Ioan.

The second half began with Llanelli, taking the game to the Vale, attacking deep into Vale territory. The well drilled defence held and with Llanelli giving away a number of penalties the pressure was relieved.

Quick ball from the scrum saw Benji Williams crash over for a third Vale try to take the score to 19 - 0.

A final well worked try from Iestyn Galton and a further conversion from Ioan Copper took the score to 26 - 0.

The squad would like to thank their coaches and parents for their help and support and their kit sponsors Apricot Online.

The Vale’s next Dewar Shield match is an away tie against the North Wales schools, RGC West.
