BARRY Town United Under-14s played against Island Marine Blue on Saturday, September 24, at their home, Mazlin Park.

It was a big fixture for the two biggest clubs in the Vale, with United without their manager due to work commitments.

United U-14s made some changes to their line-up seeing the return in partnership at the heart of defence in Jake Westlake and Lewis Harding also giving Kenzie Ashton his chance to show what he can do up front with in form Callum Hobbs.

The Town started the game strong with Cian Anderson and Morgan Hawkins working hard in the middle of the park getting the ball down and feeding the wide men Joeseph Rosser and Luke Parle who were putting pressure on the Marine defence. But it was the Marine who nearly took the lead after a free kick was given outside the Town box for Taylor Millar to fire an excellent shot only for Riley Allen to tip it on to the bar.

The Town having a lucky escape turned on the style with some excellent football resulting in Parle hitting the net. The Town were now on top and kept piling on the pressure.

Half-way through the first half Marine were unfortunate to lose their centre back and club captain Jack Norman to illness where the town took advantage seeing Callum Hobbs fire home.

The Town made some changes before the break, with Sam Stephenson replacing Morgan in the centre of midfield with the instruction to get the ball down and play. Marine were now working hard to get back into the game playing good football and sticking to their plan but they couldn't break down the Town defence who have been solid so far this season. McCauley Marks and Charlie Hansen Taylor were both driving forward and getting the Town further up the pitch only to result in an own goal after a mix up in the box.

At the break the Town introduced Callum Lloyd in defence and they were told to keep playing the same way and the goals will keep coming.

Seeing Callum Hobbs get another hat-trick and Parle get his second of the game with Ashton having a fantastic game and Hobbs working tirelessly again the coaches had a dilemma in picking man of the match but this week it went to two players Parle and Marks.

Everyone at the club hopes that Jack Norman recovers quickly and wish Island Marine good luck for the season.

Big thank you to club sponsors RIM Motors, Lectro Heat and Amser Electrical.

Next up for Barry Town United Under-14s will be Dinas Lions.
