MARTIN Brennan won an unprecedented fourth singles title last Sunday at Dinas Powys Golf Club.

He secured the Lewis Williams running competition three and two beating Paul Evans.

More affectionately known as 'the bubble' the 10-handicapper was understandably elated with his season's achievement. He will undoubtedly be a worthy recipient of Golfer of the Year.

Winning the Hird Trophy back in April was followed by the Sir Joseph Davies Cup. Then a few weeks ago he carded a nett 63 and pipped Wayne James (nett 64, h,cap 7) and Simon Berni (nett 68,h,cap 8)

Brennan will now set his sights on rallying a team to retain the Battle of the Patio plate.

The Autumn Tankard was the final Saturday competition last weekend and Paul Stanton was the winner with a nett 66. Paul Evans was again the runner-up with a nett 68 and Chris Green also carded a nett 68 but was beaten to second on the back nine.

The other final played last weekend saw Rob Hathway land the Babini Trophy. The nine handicapper from the Rhondda won a tight match two and one against Dominic Jones.

The first team player is another member who has had a fine season as he is still in two other finals to be played in the next week or two.

The wayfarer away day contested at Peterstone Lakes a couple of weeks ago was won by Martin Swensson with 40 points. On a course perfect for the left hander he used all his power and sublime touch around the greens to pip Dai Gale with 38 points. A well organised day by captain of the Wayfarers Colin Smith.

The team had a good season in the league and were defeated at the quarter-final stage. The ageless Bob Wilson was quick to point out that he never lost a match with his partner Phil Sutton.

The Club Presentation night is due to be held at the club on Friday, November 4. Captain Matthew Hadley will be on hand to present the well earned medals for the winners of the numerous competitions during the summer.
