SULLY Spartans Cricket Club ended their league season beating long time rivals Monkswood by 69 runs in a tense and sometimes heated game.

Monkswood won the toss and elected to field first, a decision which was difficult to understand especially as the pitch and outfield at Wenvoe was in such good shape.

The score moved slowly but surely forward with Saeed Ali (24), Saneesh (22), and Sreejith (49) being the main run makers.

Jacob P (39) together with Sathish (27) continued to keep the board ticking along nicely and with skipper Morgan making a quick fire not out 20, taking the final total after the allotted 40 overs to 210 for 9.

In response, Monkswood went for it from the start and were 44 for 0 after 10 overs, but then Ram finally took a wicket that he deserved shortly followed by a peach of a ball from Jacob P to remove the other opener and the away team were pegged back to 66 for 2 from 17 overs.

Jacob P would take a further two wickets as would Morgan at which time Monkswood decided to give up for the last 10 overs ending up on 141 for 6 from the 40 overs.
