CADOXTON Barry FC headed to Porthcawl on Tuesday, August 16, in their first match of the week.

It was a successful visit, after Cadoxton Barry secured a comfortable 3 - 0 win putting them in joint first position at the top of the South Wales Alliance Division One League.

In the match Trevelle Konten scored two goals and Shaun Jachontaw added the other as CB's smooth-passing style paid off again.

On Saturday, Cadoxton Barry saw changes all round with hurried and inaccurate passing against a solid Cwmamman side. At times there was unhelpful refereeing and a defeat which seemed inevitable.

Ten seconds into the game, with the rain and wind at their worst, Cadoxton Barry conceded a free-kick 20 yards out. It was half cleared before 'keeper Kieran Carpenter produced a point blank save. Cadoxton Barry's first chance came five minutes later when a Konten cross was miss-kicked towards the top corner by a Cwmamman defender. The home 'keeper's save was outstanding.

In the 13th minute, Cadoxton Barry were unlucky again as Cwmamman were awarded a free kick, when 'keeper Carpenter picked up what was deemed to be a back pass.

Cwmamman's low shot found the bottom corner.

Jake Constant, up for a corner kick , almost equalised with a flashing header before 1 - 0 became 2 - 0 as the Cadoxton Barry defence was sliced open again.

Ten minutes before half-time, it was 3 - 0 as Cadoxton Barry continued to look like they would finish in second place. When Constant added one after another corner, Cadoxton Barry's hopes were raised, only to be dashed when the home side raced upfield from the kick-off to restore the three goal lead.

The emphasis on the half-time team talk focused on winning the second half. It took only two minutes for Constant to do the business again, another header bringing back hope.

Sadly, the goal wasn't followed-up by another although there were a few half chances.

The wind and rain continued, the opposition were in no mood to surrender the lead and added a late goal ending the match 5 - 2.

Then in the evening, Cadoxton Barry were away against Cardiff Draconians, picking up three points before the big derby match against Cogan Coronation on Bank Holiday Monday.
