BARRY Town United set out their stall for 2016-17 on the weekend with a comfortable 2-0 win over league newcomers Undy Athletic at Jenner Park.

Goals from Drew Fahiya and competitive debutant Tyrell Webbe secured the spoils, with manager Gavin Chesterfield handing starts to a handful of summer signings, including former Aberystwyth Town goalkeeper Mike Lewis.

The Gwent-based visitors impressed on their Welsh League Division One bow, but would leave the Vale of Glamorgan empty-handed, as Barry headed up a cluster of eight clubs to win on the opening Saturday.

Among their number were promoted outfit Cwmbran Celtic, who avenged their 2015-16 Welsh Cup quarter-final defeat with a 2-0 win over a demoted and demoralised Port Talbot Town.

Elsewhere in the division, last season's third-placed side Goytre were winners of a seven-goal thriller at Caldicot Town, while Division One mainstays Ton Pentre beat Penybont by three goals to two.

Penybont's Bryntirion Park will be the destination for Barry this Saturday, as Chesterfield's replenished Town tackle a home team under the management of former Llanelli hotshot and Plymouth Argyle striker Rhys Griffiths, kick-off 2.30pm.
