BARRY boxer Andrew Selby will be fighting on home soil after Sanigar Events won the rights to stage the British Flyweight Championship.

Champion Selby (5-0) will go against undefeated former British, Commonwealth and European Champion Kevin Satchell (16-0) but will be buoyed by the home advantage.

Satchell is undefeated in 16 contests and is ranked number four in the world by the World Boxing Organisation and number eight by the International Boxing Federation. He has recently relinquished his European title in the quest for world honours but will first have to get past the talented Welshman who holds his old title.

The winner of the contest would look to challenge for a world title in 2017.

Selby, the fastest Welshman ever to capture the Lonsdale belt in just five professional contests has world title ambitions of his own and feels that a win over world ranked Satchell may fast track him to the top.

Talking about his performance, Selby said: "I feel that I am getting better with every performance and my last win over Louis Norman in Cardiff was just a taste of how much I can give. I've watched Satchell for a long time and I knew when I turned pro that he would be in my sights. It is great that Chris and Jamie (Sanigar) have won the bids and hopefully we can have another packed out home show."

Promoter Jamie Sanigar won the purse bids and is delighted with the outcome.

Talking about the successful bid, Sanigar said: "I’m delighted to win the bid, we believe Andrew is one of the best prospects in World boxing and the fight with Kevin Satchell is a great all British clash against two unbeaten fighters. It’s a real test for Andrew and I think this will bring the best out of him as we move closer to his dream of becoming World Champion like his brother Lee. We will announce the date and venue of the fight very soon that’s due to take place before the end of November 2016."
