SULLY Centurions Cricket Club secured an 80 run victory against Ebbw Vale, with players Santosh Singh and Rajkumar both hitting centuries for Sully.

With Sully batting first, a high scored look unlikely as the first three Sully wicket went down with just 40 runs on the board.

But Santosh Singh and Rajkumar were up and shared a partnership of 233 for the fourth wicket, both batsmen ended on 11.

A cameo nine not out, in just five balls, at the end by Lloyd Bruce helped the score along to 312 for 4.

Ebbw Vale were up next but didn't start well with opener Wallace run out for three.

Afterwards, Ebbw Vale applied themselves and managed 40 for the second wicket.

However, the Centurions bowlers kept at the task in hand and wickets began to fall.

Santosh and Rajkumar both added to their fine batting display by taking half of the Ebbw Vale wickets between them. With a wicket each for Bharat and Bruce and two for Prashant, the Ebbw Vale side were bowled out for 230 with 6 overs to spare.

A half century for Blake was the highlight of the home side’s innings.

The 2nds hosted Whitchurch Heath and lost a high scoring encounter – the highlight of the Sully innings was a second successive half century for Gethin Hicks.

Batting first, Whitchurch got off to a good start, with the opening pair putting on 66 before Pearce was bowled by Josh Bryan for 37.

But Dyson (86) and Morris (71) shared a century partnership for the second wicket which put the visitors firmly in control.

Some late wickets, including three for Russell Thomas, gave Centurions three bowling points, but Whitchurch ended on 324 for 6.

In reply, Centurions opening partnership of Thomas and Burnett reached 38 before Luke Burnett fell for 19.

Thomas (38) and Ben Spear (34) then enjoyed a half century stand which gave Sully some hope, but, in spite of 60 from Gethin Hicks, a decent 27 from Jason Hicks and some big shots from Josh Bryan, the innings closed on 236 for 7.

Although it was a big loss, Sully still managed to get maximum batting points.
