WITH Santosh and Tarv making their debuts for Sully Cricket Club, they beat Cardiff Cavaliers by eight runs in a tense, but well spirited Full Toss League Cup semi-final only spoilt by the constant light rain which made all aspects of cricket difficult.

Losing the toss the Sully Spartans were asked to bat first and guessed a score of around 100 would be difficult to chase with their opponents batting second with the light fading and outfield getting slower.

Santosh (26) and Tarv (17) opened the innings and set the Spartans off to an excellent start, so at 51 for two after six overs things were looking good.

A collapse of monumental proportions then took place and the Spartans were 67 for seven off 13 overs.

Luckily Sathish (18 not out) and Vishal G (8) were able to steady matters and added 30 taking the Spartans total to 97 for eight from the 18 allotted overs.

In response the Cavaliers lost wickets steadily with Saeed Ali the pick of the bowlers taking three for 13, ably supported by Sudesh two for 13.

The opposition needed 14 runs from the last over but only six could be gained and the Spartans were victors by eight runs.

The FTL cup final will take place at St Fagans ground on Thursday, July 28, starting at 6pm.
