Cadoxton Barry 0 v Tynewydd FC 3

TYNEWYDD FC went into their final game of the 2015/16 season knowing nothing more than a win would be good enough if they had any chance of finishing second this season, plus to significantly increase their goal difference on Sully Sports.

The game finished 3-0 with smart finishes from both Lloyd Union and Ross Smith with a typical powerful header from Andrew Colburn, with Tynny knowing they'd left plenty of gilt chances go begging that they hopefully wouldn't pay for.

Knowing their opponents faced Sully on their final match of the season, Tynny had a goal difference advantage of plus seven, leaving Sully having to make up eight goals minimum.

At half-time of that game with Sully 5-0 up, Tynny's chances seemed bleak to say the least, but a second half rally by Cadoxton meant they won the half 3-2 with the match ending 7-3 to Sully giving Tynny second place in Division One and promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

Having reached the last three successive Supporters Cup finals this was Tynewydd's best ever league run, finishing second behind Cogan who Tynewydd beat at home and away this season to take some solace from second place. But the team knew if they'd scored a few more goals they could have pushed Cogan even closer, especially with a controversial three point deduction.

The league campaign was built around a solid defence, conceding just 22 goals in 22 league games spoke volumes of the back four and goalkeeper, and great team spirit with no team having an easy game with Tynny's never say die attitude producing countless come from behind or late wins.

Moving into the Premier League won't be easy but as long as they can keep their team spirit and battling attitude they will give any team a game and won't be phased by the step up having played nearly all of the teams in that league already.

The team would like to give massive credit to manager Gareth Union for once again leading a great bunch of lads and all pulling together for the team success, with special mention to coach Paul Union for getting the boys prepared for the games through training.
