ON SATURDAY, May 14, Barry Athletic Cricket Club 1st XI entertained Ebbw Vale on a sunny afternoon at The Island ground. Ebbw Vale won the toss and asked Barry to bat first.

Barry's openers David Goodway and Nathan Baker got off to a good start adding 85 for the first wicket before Baker was by Jay for 48. Goodway was then out bowled by Yasir for 35 with the score on 104.

Rhett Jones carried on his fine form with the bat as he scored a cultured 64 before he was seventh man out as Barry lost their last five wickets for eight runs and were reduced from 210 for five to 218 all out with only Ellis and Griffett reaching double figures with 15.

In reply Ebbw Vale were soon 17 for two as Gee had Pepper Jnr and Iqbal zero in the space of two balls as he continued on from the week before with two for 30, Hellyar picked up three for 31, and Goodway three for 26 as Barry bowled the visitors out for 170 and another win and second place in the league with 19 points.

This Saturday Barry Athletic 1st XI travel to Brecon, with the 2nd XI entertaining Dinas Powys at The Island Ground.
