MILLWOOD Bowling Club hosted Romilly to the first of the season’s games on a green that was a bit on the heavy side as well as having a bit more moss than usual.

Although Millwood only managed to win with rink four, the outcome of the game was a narrow win by four shots to Romilly.

After five ends had been played, Romilly had taken a very healthy 10-24 shot lead, which after 10 ends had increased to a 27- 14 lead.

Millwood seemed to have been in this position quite a few times last season, but still managed to pull something back.

On the 15th end Millwood had clawed back quite a few shots and were only trailing now by seven shots at 48-55. At the final 21st end the result was a close 67-71 win for Romilly.

New members were welcomed at Millwood who had come from Romilly, and they had the chance to play against some ex-Millwood players, so a keen rivalry added a bit of spice to the match.

The usual after match hospitality was enjoyed by all players.

The friendly game that was due to be played on Wednesday, April 20, against Sully Sports was unfortunately cancelled due to a fixture mix-up.
