Barry Belgrade 0

Men's Division One

IN their first meeting of the season Tynny came away with all three points against pre-season title favourites Barry Belgrade.

Belgrade started the better of the two sides, quickly knocking the ball around between the lines but failing to create any chances of note in the final third. By the midpoint of the half Tynny had managed to find parity in the game whilst also failing to take advantage of numerous free kicks and the half petered out at 0-0.

A reshuffle of positions saw the Tynny start quicker in the second half and create a few half chances themselves.

Belgrade were unlucky not to take the lead themselves when inexplicably Tynny allowed the opposition centre half to stride through the middle of park and his shot was just tipped onto the post by goalkeeper Jodie Shepherd.

Belgrade grew frustrated as Tynnys dogged determination and accurate off side trap limited them to long distance pot shots.

Tynnys work rate was rewarded in the 80th minute when a long clearance was pounced upon by Ross Smith who caught the keeper off his line with a dipping left volley from all of 25 yards out to make it 1-0.

Tynny saw the remainder of the game out and their all round hard work as a team was rewarded with the win; although they know they'll have to give at least that and more in the return fixture in a few weeks.

Man of the Match went to James Clissett who just pipped centre back partner Ozzy to the award, for his control of the back line and his part in keeping another clean sheet for the Tynny.
