SIX players from Vale Ladies and Girls Football Club were recently called up for the latest Wales Under-15 National Squad training camp that took place on February 9 and 10.

Anais Trinci, Daisy Connolly, Grace Horrell, Jasmine Rowley, Kate Spargo and Lauren Harris were all selected in a squad of 18 players for the camp that was based at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.

The squad held several training sessions before playing a friendly match against a Cambrian and Clydach boy’s academy team at the excellent Dragon Park facility in Newport.

The camp was a fantastic experience for all the players involved and further shows the success of the Vale Ladies and Girls club who, in just under four years, have become the largest female set-up in Wales.

Based in the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff areas, the club currently has 17 teams competing in the South Wales Women’s and Girls League and over 230 with their senior ladies section operating as Barry Town United Ladies.

With the growth of the club continuing, they have been focused on improving training facilities to provide players with the best opportunities to develop their skill sets. In the summer of 2015 the club formed a partnership with Welsh League Division One club Barry Town United where several of the girls’ junior teams and senior ladies team train at the redeveloped Jenner Park Stadium.

Club chairman Luke Williams commented, "It is a fantastic achievement for the players and the club to have such a strong representation at international level in what is a short period of time. We have put in place excellent foundations for the club to thrive over the next five to 10 years with a huge pool of mini and junior players at the club across the Vale and Cardiff areas. The excellent training facilities and the addition of our club development centre is making a real impact and we hope to see even more players coming through our system in the coming years."

The club currently has teams at all age groups starting from age seven through to senior ladies.

New players are always welcome to come and try the training sessions.
