CADOXTON ‘A’ played a rearranged home fixture after it had been cancelled earlier in the season, which was an outstanding match. The match was enjoyed by both sides as the weather was kind, probably the best afternoon of the season, for playing bowls.

The 'A' side played Murch 'A' in a CML7 game.

Cadoxton were able to field a full side for the second time during the year, due to the inclusion of a smattering of first team players. The outcome was the second win of the year. This shows what could have been, with a full compliment available on a regular basis.

Captain Dennis Hammond skipped his rink to a fine win in a fairly close game against Colin Garland. It was not until the latter stages that a comprehensive gap opened, although the home side held a slight advantage for most of the time.

The final three ends made a definitive effect on the result when eight shots were scored, including a last end five.

Don Kuhnell showed his experience on his rink against Ian Robinson, by refusing to allow them to hold shots for end after end. This was no disparagement to the others on the rink on either side who all played their essential part in the game.

Ivor Robertson was a late addition to the team, on his 60th wedding anniversary, due to a last minute drop-out, and regularly added good quality bowls to the head.

Dave Fanning came up against opposing skip Les Aubrey, and took what appeared to be a winning position when leading 15-5 after 10 ends. However two fours changed their domination and by the 17th end the score was tied at 17-17.

A two each kept the scores level, but the visitors moved into the lead for the first time on the penultimate end, followed by a single to earn the success.

Gordon Davies skipped the other rink against Graham Russell. They also seemed likely winners with a 14-2 advantage after 11 ends.

Unfortunately ‘the wheels came off’ and just one further shot came in their favour, and the visitors took the lead on the final end, for the first time, with a single.
