MILLWOOD Bowls Club held their season’s finals day on September 5, the day was the culminating event of their 25 year anniversary season.
To celebrate this, various successful events have been held during the season including an official 25th year dinner, two 'president' games, two 'captain, games, a hog roast and several BBQ’s.
The green was opened 25 years ago by the then mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council, Councillor H J W James, who was accompanied by Councillor Emlyn Williams, the late Councillor Brinley Edmunds and Councillor Anthony Ernest, along with guests and club members.
On finale day, the club were delighted to have present the former Cllr Emlyn Williams, who presented the club with a framed photograph of Cllr Jeff James, bowling the first wood on the green 25 years ago.
Emlyn was chairman of the steering committee which established the club in 1990, along with Brinley Edmunds. Emlyn recalled the period leading up to the day and the event of the day.
During the evening of finals day, attended by approximately 60 members and guests, a fish and chip supper and the presentation of trophies was made to the following winners and runners-up:-
