BARRY Town United bounced back this week with a pair of impressive victories on the road in Welsh League Division One.

Midweek, a crowd of more than 400 saw a a sixth-minute header from Ryan Evans prove the difference, as the Town were 1-0 winners over fellow promoted outfit Risca United.

The fixture saw Cardiff City loanee Elvis Menayese make his first appearance in Town colours, with hometown boy Drew Fahiya also making his competitive debut.

Fahiya then shrugged off a knock to curl home the opener against Penybont at the Kymco Stadium on Saturday, before a second half own goal sealed Barry's 2-0 victory.

This result saw goalkeeper Dan Bradley achieve a 98th clean sheet for the Town, after veteran player/coach Damon Searle (in a rare start) had helped him to his 97th days earlier.

Barry's Man of the Match for both outings was second loan signing Jamie Bird, though the efforts of all were commendable as the Vale of Glamorgan side secured their first points since returning to Welsh League Division One.

This Saturday afternoon sees Gavin Chesterfield's squad travel to early pacesetters Goytre FC (2.30pm kick-off).

The Gwent club have started their campaign with seven points from nine, scoring 10 goals along the way; including four on their opening day win at Afan Lido.

For supporters intending to travel, the Goytre ground is located at Plough Road, Penterlleni, Pontypool (NP4 0AL).
