THE Captain's Prize Weekend is a prestigious competition in the Brynhill golfing calendar.

This year the captain Rhys Jones prayed to the golfing gods for good weather and they answered his prayers. There were 122 golfers who entered the competition on the Saturday and 131 players on Sunday.

All players tee'd off hoping for that one special competition win especially with the fantastic prizes on display.

A tent was put near the tenth tee for light refreshments and for the players to donate some money to the captains charity. Woe betide any golfer who didn't dig into their pockets deeply enough as many of the golfer's wives were there overseeing the proceedings.

The ladies' captain Glynis Gould and some of the ladies' golf section manned the score board over the two days. On both days the players congregated afterwards on the patio, discussing their games, good and bad.

The presentation was held in the clubhouse on Sunday evening, where captain Rhys Jones thanked Iain Grant and his staff for the way they presented the course, the caterer Mark Dommett, bar manageress Kath Foran and her staff, the ladies in the refreshment tent, the ladies captain Glynis Gould and the ladies section for their help and support, the handicap secretary Derek Coombes who works hard behind the scenes making sure everything is correct for the presentation, Matthew Owen the club professional and last but not least Rhys' vice captain Matthew Thomas for all his help and support. Last but not least he thanked the members.

The captain congratulated Keith Atkinson the club's president and his wife on their 57th wedding anniversary.

The president thanked the captain for putting on such a great weekend and was delighted that the members had wholeheartedly supported the weekend.
