ABERCARN visited Sully Cricket Club 1st X1 (The Spartans) on Saturday and after winning the toss surprised one and all by electing to bat first on a track which was still damp after the early morning rain, Spartans skipper Rod Howe said what a good toss to lose.

From the onset the Spartans attack had the Aber batsmen on the back foot with Inan Khan figures of nine overs four maidens one for 10, coupled with Hyder bowling nine overs two maidens for 29, leaving the away side after 18 overs 35 for one.

Gourav was next to bowl, bowling nine overs one maiden, one for 28, but the pick of the bowlers was D Morgan with figures of nine overs three maidens five for 27 and with Sathish taking the final wicket from his first ball Abercarn were all out for 119 in the 38 over.

In reply, Howe opened with Atul and together they put on a first wicket partnership of 60 before Atul was out for an excellent 41.

Howe was next to go followed shortly by Dishant and with the score now on 80 for three the Spartans needed some sensible batting to see them through.

Khan (29 not out) and Trinash batted their way along slowly but surely reaching the target in the 32 over and Sully Cricket Club 1st X1 were victors by seven wickets.
