ON Saturday Barry Athletic travelled to table toppers Pontymister and captain Gee won the toss and asked the home side to bat on a bowlers wicket.

They soon reduced the home side to 19 for three in the seventh over after Hellyar had Ashram caught Usswald for 12, Gee bowled Ali for two and again Gee having Asif LBW for two.

The score moved on to 32 before Hellyar bowled Adnan for 13, their was then a partnership of 50 before Salman was brilliantly run out by wicket keeper Baker for 21.

With 100 on the board the sixth wicket fell when Goodway picked up the first of his three wickets when he had Z Ali caught at slip again by Usswald. Goodway then picked up the wicket of Malik caught Gee for 36 the score 117 for seven now.

Two wickets then fell with 131 on the board, first to go was Armani caught on the fence by Rhett Jones for four, the next over Griffett had Salbin LBW for 13, Billy Usswald then picked up the last wicket when he had Uzair caught by Mike Provis for 19 and Pontymister all out in the 37th over for 166.

Barry's reply got of to the worst possible start when after three balls they lost the wicket of Brock with only one on the board. Then at 36 they lost the wicket of Jones for 12, there was then a 46 partnership between Goodway and Baker before Baker became the third man out for a fluent 30 with the score 82.

They soon lost Provis for zero, Murphy for zero and Goodway for 30, losing four wickets for six runs and being reduced to 88 for six. At 125 Barry lost the wickets of Taylor-Moore for 11 and Griffett for 22, at 129 they lost the wicket of Gee for one and the last wicket to fall was that of Hellyar for five and Barry being bowled out for 140 and a 26 run loss.

At the Island, Barry 2nd XI entertained Pontymister 2nd XI and batted first and scored a massive 294 for three, the fifth time this season they have scored 240 plus with Jophin Reji 105, Lee Morgan 72 not out, now averaging 284 in the league so far this season, Hugh Smith 35 and Aaron Malpas 32 not out.

In reply Pontymister got 143 for five with Turner getting 53 and G Price 33, young Kerion Ferriday two for 35 and Martin Baker two for 26 were the best bowling figures as Pontymister ended on 143 for five and a Barry win by 151 runs and a fifth straight win for the table topping Stags.

On Saturday Barry Athletic Junior Section had the privilege of being Guard of Honour for Glamorgan's T/20 Blast game against Sussex at the SWALEC Stadium.
