A BARRY swimming club has set out to prove its members can zip through water at top speeds at its Summer Sprint Championships, last month.

Swimmers competed to be the fastest over 50 metres in all four strokes with the first three in each event presented with a medal at a presentation evening held on Saturday, June 13.

The Summer Sprints Presentation evening, in celebration of the competition, took place at the Cadoxton Conservative Club.

It began with the medal presentation to all the swimmers who took part and the presentation was followed by a buffet meal and disco.

Gold Medals were presented to Connie Millar, Isabelle Thomas, Aimee Jefferson, Gwenno Davies, Henry Davies, Aaron Belby, Alysha Lee, Caitlin Williams, Thomas Pugh, Louie John, Pia Sully, Nadia Hamandi, Luke Connor, Bethan Williams, Ryan Connor and Georgia Looker.

Alice Davies, Nia Thomas, Lauren Whittaker, Nia Fuller, David Youngs, Carys Thomas, Nadia Hamandi and Iestyn Perkins all gained silver medals.

Bronze medals went to Phoebe White, Emilia Knevett, Caitlin Dowling and Cian Ralphs and medals were also presented to the following Taylor Albertides, Abigail Baker, Cerys Borges, Eleri Borges, Mollie Bourner, Ella Davies, Tegan Goodwin, Sophia Hamandi, Reuben Hopkin, Bethan Jones, Rebecca Piper, Wictoria Strazala, Elin Welch and Sophia Whittaker.

The club is now looking forward to its biggest event of the year early next month – the Cardiff Bay Sprint Meet, on Saturday, July 4.

The event at the Cardiff International Swimming Pool welcomes swimmers from many South Wales Swimming Clubs and some English clubs.
