SULLY Football Club held a testimonial for long-serving players on Saturday, May 23.
Edward Jones and his team mate Spencer had been stalwarts of the club for ten years.
The game saw the club's old boys take on the current team with both Edward and Spencer playing for the former.
After dominating the opening 10 minutes the old boys team quickly found themselves 3-0 down to two Luke Hanlon goals and an Alex Long strike.
Just before half time Joe Hinds pulled one back.
After Spencer's pin point cross, Drew Fahiya gave the old boys team further hope but it was a last minute header by Edward that provided the equaliser and took the game to penalties.
Goalkeeper Carl Wadsworth, making a guest appearance from Grange Albion, then made the crucial save to swing the tie in the old boy's favour and Edward stepped up to score the fifth and winning penalty to secure the win.
Edward said: "We would like to thank the club for putting on the day for us and a fantastic 10 years, which includes four league winners medals, a FAW trophy and a Bruty Cup win."
Edward was very pleased that the weather was fine and the crowds turned up in their numbers for such an important game.
"We are grateful to everyone for turning up on this fantastic event," he said.
