BARRY schoolgirl, Tia Morgan, aged 16 years-old, is appealing to the public to help her represent Wales in August in Ireland's annual Rosebowl Tournament.

Tia, who went to Oakfield Primary School, Barry, now lives in Beddua during the week, and in Coldbrook, Barry during the weekends.

With her team, Troedyrhiw Under-16's, Tia has had a stellar season. The team have recently won the South Wales FA cup and then won the league title with a game in hand. Victory in the League Cup then secured an amazing treble for Tia’s team and a fantastic way to end her time in junior football.

Ever since her early days in Year 7, Tia has been a keen sports woman and represented Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive in several different sports. Her main game however is football, and she has played and trained regularly for many years. She is now in Year 11, and she has continued to find success on the football pitch.

During this time she has also been an asset to the Development Squad, the Regional Squad and to be part of the Welsh FA School County team and the current WFA School champion team.

She has recently been selected as part the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wales Girls Under-17 Football Team, and is hoping kind hearted individuals or businesses may be able to sponsor her to help her achieve her dreams.

Ani Morgan, Tia’s mum, explains, "They are travelling to Belfast, Northern Ireland in August to represent Wales in the annual Rosebowl Tournament. There, they will be playing teams representing Northern Ireland, Scotland and England. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Wales have over 160 affiliated teams and clubs. During the selection process, more than 70 girls from Cardiff, Caerphilly, Blackwood, Pontypridd, Rhondda, Merthyr, Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea attended trials to reach the final squad of 16.

"This is a great opportunity for Tia to play International Football, but it is expensive, she needs kit, travel, hotels and so on.

"I’m hoping that individuals and businesses around the area may be able to help contribute to our fundraising. Please help my girl get to Ireland and gain her first Welsh cap. One day she hopes to achieve her dream of playing for the Wales’ Women’s Team."
