Vale of Glamorgan League Division Two

Cadoxton Barry 3rds 2 (Thompson, Cameron) Vale United 2 (Evans R)

THERE was very little between these two sides during the early stages with play swinging from end to end during the first half hour, though a Thompson cross across the face of the Vale goal only needed a touch that didn't come.

But then a defensive error saw Christopherato chasing back to concede a penalty which was well converted by Evans. Immediately a Thompson throw in found Smart whose flick shot was only just wide of the post.

Then Peacock came to the rescue with a fine save following another mix up on the left of the CB defence.

Apart from that, action around the goal areas was quite sparse. This was until a Ceesay throw was returned to him to head on to Thompson who finished with the help of the bobbly pitch.

Substitutions saw Adams and Sam Williams coming on for Ceesay and Christopherato. With 20 minutes left it was Williams who sent over an accurate cross from the right to find Cameron's head which, in turn found the back of the net to give the home side a 2-1 lead.

Both sides then took turns in applying periods of pressure before Rhydian Hopkins came on to herald a prolonged spell for CB.

But as the clock ran down Vale were starting to turn the tide and a fine cross from the right saw a quality diving header from Evans levelling things up for Vale.

Then CB had Peacock to thank for saving a share in the points when he pulled off a great reaction save following a bit of a scramble in front of his goal.

At the end of the day the 2 - 2 final score was probably a fair result for the evenly matched sides.
