BARRY Saints took a giant step closer to sealing the Mr Windows Second Division title with a 6-2 win over a hard-working Vulcan Galaxy.

Saints dominated with their possession football and carved out numerous opportunities in the first 10 minutes, but could not break down a stubborn Galaxy side and it looked to be the start of a frustrating day.

Michael Evans had other ideas and after being picked out by Darren Townsend he smashed the ball home to open the scoring.

David Evans got in on the act moments later, after being forced into the corner he somehow managed to dance between the Vulcan defence and slam the ball home from a tight angle.

Nicky Elston grabbed a third goal from a corner after the first attempt was blocked; the second fell to him to hook the ball home.

Josh Cummings grabbed the fourth with a late run beating the offside trap after the ‘keeper had come off his line in no man’s land. Cummings was left free and tapped home.

The Saints were cruising by half-time. Vulcan Galaxy showed a lot of spirit and came out second half with a good spell and scored from a header from a whipped free kick.

Saints got back to scoring ways when David Evans was pushed from behind in the box off a long throw. He stepped up to convert the penalty he had won.

Josh Cummings grabbed his second after a good break away and with the ‘keeper losing his bearings Cummings bent the ball in to the far corner.

Vulcan did have the last laugh with the game already lost the makeshift ‘keeper who normally plays centre half came up for a corner and scored a towered header at the back post.
