Sully Sports 6 - Mighty Marvels 0

ON A cold frosty day at Swanbridge, Sully entertained Rhondda team Mighty Marvels who are lying mid table in the league.

The Marvels struggled to match The Sports opening salvo of goal as they attacked from the outset.

Alex Long opened the Sully account with a top class finish across the ‘keeper and in off the far post. Once again Sports were missing regular ‘keeper Kieron Sharatt and young Sol Borde deputised.

They went further ahead when Chris Rees cut in from the left and from a very acute angle somehow shot past the keeper.

The visitors were not able to stem the tide as McInery fed Rees whose cross was knocked in by evergreen Gareth Hemmens to secure a first half lead for Sully.

The Sully back line contained a lively Marvels attack but not without a few blips as they settled down.

Sports opened the second half with a series of corners and with ten minutes gone produced a goal of the highest quality with a five player inter passing move which was dispatched finally by Dan Lawlor who ended the move with a sweet drive past the ‘keeper.

With Andrew Townsend assisting ‘keepers Borde parried save, he stretched to make the goal line clearance.

Sports fifth goal saw a great defence splitting pass by Townsend who picked out an Alex Long run perfectly who scored in his stride for another peach of a goal.

It was left to Hemmings to complete the scoring from close in after sub Luke Hanlon had used his searing pace to open up the marvels defence.

Sports make the journey to Aberdare this Saturday and face the unpredictable Cwmbach Stars who are on a good run and are striving to get to the promotion Alliance sixth spot for the new league.

Team: Borde, Townsend, Morgan, Brown, Harding, Lewis, McInery, Hemmens, Long, Lawlor, Rees, Brown, Storer and Hanlon.

Sports Vale team convincingly overcame Pumas 4-0 in the Supporters Cup where they will play Glenbrook at Swanbridge on February 21. A fine hat-trick from recent signing Jamie Randall and a boomer from David Kavanagh saw them through to the next round.
