THERE was success for two Barry YMCA gymnasts who participated in the South Central Levels and National Challenge Cup competition.

Ffion Byrne 17 years old became the South Central Area National Challenge Cup Champion and also claimed gold on vault, beam and floor.

On the opposite end of the age spectrum six year old Hana Davies competed for the first time in the South Central Area Levels competition. She successfully performed lots of new skills including a new floor exercise to become the overall champion and also claimed gold on vault, bars, beam, floor and range and conditioning.

Ffion was in action again when she was selected to represent the South Central area in the level 3 category at the Alpha Factor competition in Wiltshire. She performed particularly well on vault and also gained a special award for her bars exercise.

Lara Watkins was also selected to represent the area at this competition in the level 4 category. She performed confidently and gained special awards for her vault and bars.

Ffion continued her success in competitions when she gained a bronze medal on vault at the Welsh National Challenge Cup competition.

Congratulations to all three gymnasts and thank you to coaches Aimee McCarthy and Sophie Erickson for your continued dedication.
