DEFENDER Ryan Evans netted Barry's 5,000th all-time Welsh League goal at the weekend, as the Town remained on course at the top of Division Two.

Evans' flick-on header broke the deadlock at the Murch, as Gavin Chesterfield's much-changed XI ran out 3-1 winners over near-neighbours Dinas Powys.

Among the changes, full-back Theo Richards enjoyed his first competitive start for the club at senior level, while Jamie Bradford and Rob Blatchford linked up for the first time since their respective returns from Aberdare Town.

Continuing his strong run of form since recovering from injury, forward TJ Nagi would soon capitalise on a rebound to double the Barrians' advantage in the first half.

However, the valiant villagers, who had former Town man Atif Bashir amongst their number, hit back soon after the interval, to ensure a tense second period.

Despite a performance that was ultimately below their typical high standards, a late penalty from Rhys James settled matters in Barry's favour; ensuring the Town remain unbeaten in Welsh League Division Two heading into this weekend's fixtures.

With 10 wins from 11 outings, Barry has enjoyed a stronger start to this season than in last year's title-winning campaign.

Many challenges await however, with the first arriving at Jenner Park this Saturday, when former Welsh League champions West End make the trip from Swansea, 2pm kick-off.

Admission at the turnstiles is £5 for adults, £4 for OAPs/students and £3 for unaccompanied children, with accompanied children welcomed free of charge.

Meanwhile, striker James Dixon has been announced as the club's player of the month for November, following his winner in the top-of-the-table clash against Aberbargoed.

Barry: Dan Bradley, Theo Richards, Ryan Evans, Lewis Cosslett, Paul Morgan, James Saddler, Jamie Bradford, Troy Greening, Rob Blatchford, TJ Nagi and Rhys James.
