MMG travelled to Penarth looking to carry on from last week's victory. Losing two players to injury in the warm up and a last minute reshuffle to the starting 11 wasn't the best preparation for the game, and this showed with MMG starting slowly and struggling to get a foothold in the game.

With the pitch in poor condition, Penarth seemed to cope better with their direct long ball tactics causing the MMG back line problems. MMG kept plugging away, not wanting to steer away from passing the ball and trying to play football. This paid dividend when Dimitri Fallas fired home a shot from 30 yards out, which the Penarth goalkeeper was unlucky not to save.

MMG nearly doubled their lead when Michael Fallas, not wanting to be outdone by his brother, fired a 30 yard volley which the goalkeeper managed to tip over the bar.

The rest of the first half was played out with MMG passing the ball around but with no real end product.

MMG started the second half a lot brighter and were in full control of the game, passing the ball confidently and chances were being created. A second goal was added when a great run and cross from Anthony Connell was finished emphatically by Dimitri Fallas to double his tally for the day.

Penarth got one goal back from a well struck free kick and this seemed to spur them on. They started to grow into the game but an organised defensive line from MMG made sure that nothing was going to get through.

Paul Eveleigh came on to replace the injured Tim Lendor at the heart of the defence and provided solidity when Penarth really started to put on pressure. A chance for Penarth to draw level was scuppered when a fantastic one-on-one save was made from stand in goalkeeper James Spear.

MMG nearly added a third goal when Anthony Connell raced clear but his shot skimmed the outside of the post. The game finished 2-1 and although it wasn't one of MMG's best performances this season, they stuck together and ground out the result. Man of the match was awarded to goalkeeper James Spear who when called upon was brilliant as MMG's last line of defence.
