AFTER slipping to third in the league and SP close on their tails, Masons Moving Group knew that three points were a must.

A boggy Severn Avenue pitch would favour the visitors but MMG knew that they couldn't lose the free flowing football philosophy that has served them well so far. The game started well with both midfields battling for dominance.

A change in formation and a solid defensive line of Miles Harvey, James Spear, James Carling and Nick Ball allowed the midfield and attackers to get on the ball and it wasn't long before MMG started to dictate play.

The front three of James Mason, Josh Mazey and Dimitri Fallas were causing the SP back line no end of problems. The first goal came when great midfield interplay allowed Dimitri Fallas to burst down the left wing, beat two defenders and square the ball for James Mason to fire in his sixth goal of the season.

The rest of the first half was played out in similar fashion with MMG unlucky not to add to their lead. The second half started and MMG knew that with only a one goal lead they would have to stay completely focused.

Great feet from Josh Mazey and a clumsy tackle from the defender resulted in a free kick just outside the box. MMG were unlucky not to double their lead when Dimitri Fallas stepped up and fired just over the bar. As a result of the foul on Josh Mazey, he had to be replaced and on came Anthony Connell who immediately settled in to the game.

The midfield three of Rhys Jenkins, Courtney Aviet and Michael Fallas battled for every ball and were determined not to let SP get the upper hand. Towards the end of the game, MMG's resolve was tested when a few suspect tackles and off the ball incidents threatened to upset the flow of the game but MMG dug in and the introduction of Paul Eveleigh seemed to calm everybody down. Another clean sheet victory for MMG and a good performance from goalkeeper James Prothero who when called upon kept the score at 1-0.

Fantastic performances from all 13 players involved but man of the match was awarded to Michael Fallas for a dominant display at the heart of the midfield.
