A HASTILY assembled Barry 3rd XV travelled to Fairwater as they continued their league campaign.

Newly appointed manager Frank Greig welcomed back James Clements into the starting line-up, whilst Chris Bailey and Mike Avaient formed yet another new half back partnership. Flanker Nathan Harris was forced to play as an emergency centre due to the shortage of backs.

With such a scratch side it was no surprise that the 3rd XV struggled against an experienced Fairwater 2nd XV, and despite some heroic defending by the team, tries came and went.

Barry did have some possession of their own in a good 20 minute period. Led by captain Jon Morris, the side attempted to string together a few phases to threaten the Fairwater line, but a lack of composure and cutting edge meant the visitors came home empty handed.

The 3rd XV will hope for some of their more experienced players to return to action when they travel to Pentyrch next weekend.
