MASON’S following on from a tough 3-1 win last week travelled to Cadoxton Barry at Bryn-y-Don. With Cadoxton Barry languishing towards the bottom of the table Mason’s thought that another good performance would keep up their winning run.

However, CB had the majority of their players available and played their part in a highly entertaining game. With early pressure Mason’s were on the front foot. A corner was pinged in from the right and flicked on at near post for Elliot Cayton to volley high into the roof of the net.

CB were playing counter attacking football and using their pace upfront to good effect. A curling effort just past the 20 minute mark brushed the upright before going wide. Another break away saw them equalise just before half time.

The second half started in much the same way, with lots of pressure from Mason’s, but, for the first 15 minutes both defences were on top. Paul Edwards and Dave Allen were marshalling the Mason’s defence really well but were constantly tested with the pace of CB.

Elliot Cayton and Drew Burniston were replaced just after half time by Nick Louch and Paul Eveleigh as the big Bryn-y-Don pitch was leg sapping to the two departing players.

With 30 minutes to go and in the space of 10 minutes David ‘Des’ Evans a constant thorn in the CB side all afternoon bagged a brace with CB scoring one in between. CB were now on the front foot and looking for the equaliser. The ref on the whole, had a good game but didn’t spot the clear offside for the goal. This left a frantic 15 minutes with player manager coming on to replace the veteran Leon Butler, who had run himself into the ground.

Although Mason’s were dominating at this point they couldn’t find the winner and were susceptible to the counter. The game finished 3-3 and it could have gone either way. The game was played in good spirit and although keenly fought was played within the rules.

Mason’s would like to thank their sponsor BRT International for their new kit.
