WELL done to all players and supporters who travelled on Saturday, it was never going to be an easy match, but Sully Sports ran out winners 22-13 against Ferndale, and the seconds run out comfortable winners against local rivals Sea View.

Thank you goes to all players who travelled and their loyal supporters, sorry they made you wait to the last 10 minutes to get the bonus point.

With a quick warm up and words from coach Gareth Ivory and captain Jon Blake, Sports wanted the game to start. Once again from the start Sports pressured Ferndale's 22 area, but unfortunately came away with no score. Ferndale used good use of the home advantage and soon had points on the board with a well struck penalty.

However, as the referee allowed the game to flow and played quick advantage, Sports kept the ball alive and pressured mounted in Ferndale's half. Jake Williams had several opportunities at the posts with penalty's mounting, but it was his strong running that rewarded him for his efforts, going over for the first try of the day.

Again the pack stood tall and showed why the backs have the freedom for most of the game. Dai Harris growing in confidence, but the Ferndale defence stood strong and forced Sports to change tactic with the coach shouting for patience and the forwards gaining the upper hand it was close play and attack that worked well for Jody Velda to go over for Sports second try.

As the game flowed under the watchful eye of the referee, who may have been young but showed confidence in controlling a very hard game, Ferndale slowly pulled their way back into the game.

A quick turnaround at half time and stern words encouraging the players to just play rugby and enjoy it.

The second half started much the same as the first half continued, both sides throwing everything in their armoury at each other, strong defence and fast attack, ensured the supporters enjoyed a good game. With Ferndale gaining the upper hand and a few yellow cards being issued by the referee, rightly so, his patience ran out.

A huge testament to the young squad of Sports was the way they kept plugging away at the home side, ensuring end to end rugby was the order of this half. More barn storming runs from forwards and backs and the pride of the club winning through, Jake Williams went over.

However from the side line all that was heard was "There is still time to get the bonus point". Sports again rallied strong, Dan Stillman gaining the restart and ensuring Sports where on the charge again. Sports increased the pace of the attack with excellent linking under Dai Harris, and Matt Phillips straightening the running line, but again Ferndale showed why they are such a good side.

With the game nearly over and Sports camped in Ferndale's half, it looked as if the bonus point had gone for this game. But not to be out done, Sports rallied well and put more pressure on the defence, moving some 30 meters up the pitch with the pack and backs getting involved, holding the nerve and patience was rewarded with a out stretched try from captain Jon Blake (some say it’s good job he over six foot). Thus the game ends with a bonus point and Jake Williams converting leaving the score on the day Ferndale 13 - Sully Sports 22.

Again massive thanks to all players who made their own way and travelled on the bus, not forgetting the supporters and the club for all their support so far.

They entertain Tonyrefail in the cup this week, so get down the club.
