THE new season for the Barry Darts league started on September 19. With both leagues now merged into one and a new match format, this promises to be an interesting season.

With only three matches taking place September 19, the Billy Ghosts got their season going with a massive 19-2 victory against the Runways. Steve Spear hit the only 180 of the night and Mark Driscoll hit a 16 dart leg.

The Dockers had the next big win with a 17-4 win against the Loungers. The final match of the week saw the Plastics lose 10-11 to the Mariners 66. This game highlighted the change to the format as in previous seasons it would have been a 5-4 win for the Plastics, however, now that every leg counts, the Mariners came out as worthy winners.

In the second round of matches, the BFC Allsorts started their season with a very impressive win against the current league champions, the Poachers. The match finished 12-9 in the Allsorts favour.

The Billy Ghosts followed up on their big opening win with another impressive performance against fellow Billy side, the Wanderers. Phil Mathews hit a 180 in the 15-6 victory.

The Dockers came out as narrow 10-11 victors away to the Mariners 66 and the Runways opened their campaign with a close 11-10 win over the Raiders.

The Cwm Talwg came out on top against the Plastics 13-8, while the Loungers lost 8-13 at home to the Tynewydd Inn. In the final game of the week, the Park Weasels beat the Hell Raisers 16-5.

All teams are reminded that the annual presentation night is taking place on October 17 at the Cadoxton Cons. Could any outstanding trophies please be taken to Baddeley's in High Street to allow the trophies to be engraved in time for the presentation. Raffle prizes would also be greatly appreciated on the night. Teams are encouraged to attend the evening and show their support for the league.
