South Wales Senior League Division Two

Ynyshir Albions 5 - 5 Cadoxton Barry FC

A BRIGHT CB start saw them taking the lead on the sixty second mark when a rising Oaten shot from the right beat the home keeper to end up in the back of the net at the far left. Further chances presented themselves over the next 10 minutes before a clash of heads in going for an aerial ball saw Curran crumpled on the ground with a badly gashed forehead. Cadoxton Barry are grateful to the nurse who was present who made a professional job of stemming the flow with temporary bandaging before he was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for stitches.

The game restarted following a lengthy delay and, as we were leaving the ground, CB were awarded a free kick a couple of yards beyond the middle of the box. And it was Oaten who stepped up to send in a powerful bender that left the home 'keeper with no chance. And that was the last of the action that I saw as we drove off in the direction of Llantrisant.

A softly conceded goal then lifted the hosts' heads and they were back on level terms by half time. The second half started hopefully for CB as they once again took the lead. But it was short lived as the home side went on a rampage that saw them score three times in building a 5 - 3 lead. Ynyshir were now looking certain for all three points with only ten minutes remaining.

But this see-saw of a game had yet another twist as, without warning, CB once more started turning a screw which provided the two goals that earned a well deserved share in the points. The point just keeps Cadoxton Barry in second spot, sharing 14 points with Tongwynlais, but with a better goal difference.

Next Saturday Cadoxton Barry entertains Cardiff side St Josephs at Bryn-Y-Don. KO 2pm.

Vi 7 - 1 Cadoxton Barry 2nds

Eleven players who would normally be considered for selection were unavailable, leaving CB with a bit of a patchwork quilt of a side to play a side that they had already proved capable of handling only very recently. So there was never going to be any chance of inflicting the first defeat of the season on Vi that had so much been anticipated earlier in the week.

Cadoxton Barry 3rds 3 - 1 FC Pumas 2nds - Details from Frank

This was a good win. It was all about a very decent keeper who made some really good saves to preserve the lead provided by Scouse, on his debut, and old stager, Geary. The third goal was out of the top drawer.

A pass back to the keeper relieved a spell of pressure. The keeper, Peacocks, made a 60 yard clearance to find Scouse. His excellent control set up Dino who smashed it into the top corner from 25 yards.
