SULLY Sailing Club held its annual Open Regatta on Sunday, September 14. This year it was part of the Bristol Channel Yachting Conference circuit and as a result we had visiting boats from Tatta Steel Sailing Club, Cardiff Yacht Club and one from Portishead.
A bright and breezy day gave the fleet of 24 boats some excellent sailing in Sully Bay - two races in the morning followed by a splendid barbecue, and then two more races in the afternoon.
Club members were given a lesson by the visitors - the top two places being taken by crews from Tatta and third place going to a Cardiff YC member.
The results were: -
1st Oscar and Lisa Chess from Tatta sailing an Osprey
2nd Mike and Pam Murray from Tatta sailing an Osprey
3rd Tom Powell from Cardiff YC sailing a Phantom
Winner of the slow fleet was Aiden Bell from Cardiff YC sailing a Laser Radial. As Aiden is a Junior he was not able to accept his prize of a bottle of wine and gave it to his dad in lieu of transport costs for his boat.
