WOULD-BE sea swimmers looking to build up confidence of dealing with open water can hook up with a club to gain some practice.

Rob Salter, of Vale Sea Swimming Club, is running one more sessions for anyone wishing to gain some knowledge and experience ahead of the Barry Island Aquathon.

Rob, assisted by Jamie Downton and Billy Simpkins, will run sessions which include a 30 minute safety and briefing session, 15 minutes preparation and changing and 60 minutes in the water.

Topics covered will include sighting, swimming in a pack, and hitting the marker can correctly.

The free session takes place on Sunday, September 21 at 5pm.

The times may vary slightly and limited places are available.

Rob said: “The sessions are suitable for people with a good standard of swimming, but have little or no sea swimming experience and are a little anxious about the swim.

“The sessions are not delivered by the sea swimming club they are delivered by me personally and I will be assisted by Jamie and Billy, therefore the clubs insurance will not cover the sessions and if people require insurance they should either check with their club or take out their own.”
