IN an 18 overs game at Llandaff Fields on Wednesday week Mackintosh Church CC still looking for their first win of 2014 were defeated by Cardiff Medicals by seven wickets.

On winning the toss, away skipper S German opted to give his team first use of a decent wicket and fast outfield. Openers father and son Rod and Mike Howe took the score to 11 before the effervescent son Mike ran his father out in the quest of a challenging total to bequeath to the Medicals. Mike, having now been joined by the still learning Sam Beckett, proceeded to dominate the Medicals bowling with five boundaries in his 38 retired, out , total.

Sam Beckett contributed a very useful 13, the best innings to date for the Mack whose final total of 87 from the allotted 18 overs was hardly likely to be challenging and so it proved.

With the redoubtable Chris Howe on his way home from Crete and ever quirky Evan Rees at work, the Mack's bowling resources were, at best, stretched and the Medicals took only 11 overs to sew the game up in their favour. There was a wicket apiece for Sam German, Mike Howe and Rod Howe and the wait goes on for the Mackintosh's awaited first victory of 2014.
