THE development of young students at a local martial arts club has been boosted by the generosity of a national insurance company.

Thanks to a £500 donation from Admiral, Barry Kyokushin Karate Club, which trains at Castleland Community Centre, has been able to purchase body armour, head guards and protective gloves which will enable juniors to train in cadet semi contact.

Assistant instructor Tracy Davies and husband Andrew provided the brilliant news, and chief instructor Phill Sedgmond said: "Training in cadet semi contact is dangerous without the right protective equipment so Admiral Insurance really have come to our rescue, and our juniors can now look forward to this special training in complete safety. The club extends a massive thank you to Admiral."

Barry Kyokushin train at the centre in Belvedere Crescent on Monday and Wednesday (6.30-7.30pm for juniors under 16) and (7.30-9pm for seniors). For further details, visit www.bkkc.co.uk, ring 01446-408974 or visit the club's Facebook page.
