AFTER lifting the Cardiff and Vale U11 title, a Barry-based netball team will compete in the Welsh championships in May.
Although unbeaten in the league all season, members of the Red Dragons squad were very nervous going into the Cardiff and Vale event at the House of Sport in Cardiff but showed great form to win eight and draw one of their age group games to be crowned county champions.
Talent scouts from Welsh Netball were also at the event and five of the girls - Georgia, Ella, Ellie, Mariella, Maisie - were named in the top 20 players of the tournament.
The Red Dragons U13 squad also took part in the Cardiff and Vale championships and, with new players, enjoyed an excellent tournament to finish fourth out of 11 teams. Three of the girls - Caitlin, Maddison and Lucy - were also talent spotted by Welsh Netball.
Congratulations are extended to all the girls, who played extremely well, and thanks to all the coaches - Mel Hellerman, Sharron Alldred, Sian Seaward and Jo Wheeler.
Anyone interested in Red Dragons Netball, who offer classes from Reception/Y1, Infants through to U10, U11, U13, U15 and U17, can contact Mel Hellerman on 07793 652300.
