Sully Sports FC take to the field at Wales vs Scotland game!

SULLY Sports Football Club, as 2012 FAW Trophy winners, were guests at the Wales v Scotland World Cup qualifying game at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday.

They were presented with their trophy at half time by FAW President Trefor LLoyd Hughes, before parading it around the pitch in a lap of honour.

Sports won the cup in May by beating north Wales outfit Holyhead Hotspur, who play several leagues above them in the Welsh League system.

And their night was complete when Wales star Gareth Bale smashed in an outstanding 87th minute match-winning goal for Chris Coleman’s side.

WITH a host of injuries affecting the squad, Sully Sports entertained Splott Albion on Saturday, from the First Division of the Amateur League, in Saturday's South Wales Senior Cup clash at Swanbridge.

Positional changes for Sports saw Gavin Beddard move up front, with Michael Osbourne partnering captain Ed Jones at the back. The pitch at Sully survived the torrential rain and, though a little slippery, was in good condition thanks to the hard work of the ground staff.

While Sports started slowly, Splott were up for a game and looked sharp in the early exchanges. They took a deserved lead after 10 minutes following a good finish after some sloppy Sports play.

The wake up call for Sully was immediate, with Beddard finishing a good move to equalise. The visitors, though on the back foot, struck again as the half-time break neared but Sully replied when Garon Davies and Beddard combined for the latter to double his score.

Splott were still in the game at the break but some positional changes for Sully brought an improved performance as they went for goals. Following a great move from Alex Long, his perfect cross was fired in by that man Beddard to complete a fine hat-trick.

Long lobbed the keeper for the fourth as Sports turned the screw and Albion had no real answer to the quickfire Long and hard working Beddard.

The silky skills of Mike Fowler brought him Sports' fifth, with Beddard adding his fourth after meeting a good cross and guiding the ball past the keeper.

Myles Case combined well with Long and was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet and another youngster, James Greenslade, settled in at the back as Albion looked drained and were outplayed during the second half. Sports now face a long trip to Blaenrhondda as a reward for this second round victory, while more important matters await on Saturday as the visitors in the Welsh Trophy are Kenfig Hill, another Amateur League team.

Players should meet at the ground at 12.15pm for the 2pm kick-off.
