Cadoxton Barry FC 1sts: Same opponents, same referee - same result!

LISVANE / LLANISHEN 0 CADOXTON BARRY 4

SPECTATORS may have had a feeling of deja vu as CB travelled to the Cardiff suburb of Lisvane for a South Wales Senior League Division Two league meeting - against the same team they entertained in the South Wales Senior Cup the previous Saturday, when they came away with the same result.

Even the referee Keith Redford was his same impeccable self across both games.

And the four-goal margin was a fair reflection of a game that CB dominated for the most part.

CB lined up with a solid back four of Pat Curran, Adam Harvey, Luke Walsh and Kristian Shaw in front of the commanding Matthew Warner, who kept another clean sheet. The LL forwards were marshalled superbly and the chances for the home team were few and far between.

James Dawson started well and was a constant menace in the middle of the park as was his partner Darren Baker.

A fine move through the middle resulted in Luke Bjegovic finding himself in a one-on-one with the keeper to tuck the ball home off the post for the opener. CB kept the pressure on and Ross Matthews and Conner McInery were using the width of the pitch to stretch the home defence.

Ross Weekley came close before the break and Dawson was narrowly off target with a free kick which CB felt came from an infringement inside the box.

The message at the break was to keep the momentum and extend the goal tally. And the CB players did exactly this as Weekley chased what looked like a lost cause only to benefit from a poor clearance from the keeper to score CB's second.

On a roll now, the pressure continued as McInery hit a post with a powerful shot before Sam Adamson was unleashed from the bench to make an immediate impact by finding the net with a clever finish.

To seal the win, a fine team move involving Weekley, McInery and Dawson saw Bjegovic bag his second of the game and mirror the score of last week's encounter.

Before the game, Lisvane had only been beaten once this season whilst in league action and lay third in the table - but CB were too strong on the day.

CB: Matthew Warner, Kristian Shaw, Adam Harvey, Darren Baker, Luke Walsh, Patrick Curran, Conner McInery, Ross Matthews, Ross Weekley, Luke Bjegovic, James Dawson.

Subs: Sam Adamson, Ashley Govier, Mark Ellis.
